These &#8220;majority-minority&#8221; districts were engineered to elect Democrats. Without them, many of those seats disappear.</p><p>The numbers are devastating:</p><ul><li><p>A dozen of the Democrats&#8217; current seats exist only because federal courts <strong>forced</strong> states to draw racial maps.</p></li><li><p>Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina &#8212; every one has at least one Democrat seat created by court-ordered racial engineering.</p></li><li><p>The Democrats&#8217; House margin is just <strong>four seats</strong>.</p></li><li><p>SCOTUS just made <strong>12 of their 213 seats</strong> legally redrawnable.</p></li></ul><p>Republican-led legislatures don&#8217;t need new voters &#8212; they need a redistricting committee and a Tuesday afternoon.</p><div political CPR on <strong>racism</strong> &#8212; not to kill it, but to <strong>keep it alive</strong> so they can keep using it. They scream &#8220;Don&#8217;t you die on me you bastard! We still need to use you!&#8221; every time someone tries to move past race-based policies.</p><p>That is exactly what this SCOTUS ruling exposed.</p><p>For years, Democrats have claimed to be the party fighting racism. Yet they are the ones who fought hardest to keep <strong>race-based districting</strong> &#8212; the practice of drawing congressional maps based on skin color to guarantee Democratic seats. They packed Black voters into a handful of heavily Democratic districts so they could win more seats overall.</p><p>This is not fighting racism.<br>This is <strong>using racism as a political tool</strong>.</p><h3>A Brief History of How We Got Here</h3><p>After the Civil War, Southern states used poll taxes, literacy tests, and violence to stop Black Americans from voting. The <strong>Voting Rights Act of 1965</strong> was passed to end that evil chapter. It was one of the greatest civil rights victories in American history.</p><p>In the 1980s and 1990s, courts interpreted the VRA to require states to draw as many &#8220;majority-minority&#8221; districts as possible. This led to a massive wave of racial gerrymandering. States were pressured &#8212; often by federal judges &#8212; to pack Black voters into a small number of heavily Democratic districts.</p><p>The result was predictable:</p><ul><li><p>Black voters were <strong>packed</strong> into a few safe Democratic seats.</p></li><li><p>Surrounding districts became more Republican.</p></li><li><p>Democrats gained safe seats in the South &#8212; not because of voter preference, but because of racial engineering.</p></li></ul><p>This is the system Democrats are now desperately defending.</p><div><hr></div><h3>The Politicians Who Benefited for Decades &#8212; And Who Now Face Real Competition</h3><p>Many Americans have no idea how some of these long-serving Democrats actually got into power. They were not elected in fair, color-blind districts. Their seats were <strong>created by federal courts</strong> to guarantee Democratic wins.</p><p>Here are the clearest examples:</p><p><strong>Rep. Jim Clyburn (South Carolina &#8211; 6th District)</strong><br>In Congress since 1993. South Carolina&#8217;s only Democratic seat for over 30 years. His district was heavily shaped by VRA requirements. In 2022, Clyburn&#8217;s own staff worked with Republican mapmakers to protect his seat &#8212; even if it diluted Black voting power elsewhere in the state (as reported by ProPublica). He has been one of the most powerful Democrats in Congress largely because of this engineered map.</p><p><strong>Rep. Bennie Thompson (Mississippi &#8211; 2nd District)</strong><br>In Congress since 1993. The only Democrat representing Mississippi. His district is the state&#8217;s only majority-Black congressional district and has been protected by the Voting Rights Act for decades. Without that protection, Mississippi would likely have zero Democratic House members.</p><p><strong>Rep. Terri Sewell (Alabama &#8211; 7th District)</strong><br>In Congress since 2011. Her district is majority-Black and has been repeatedly protected by federal courts. She has been one of the loudest voices defending these maps. If the old system ends, her seat becomes competitive for the first time in over a decade.</p><p><strong>Rep. Troy Carter (Louisiana &#8211; 2nd District)</strong><br>Elected in 2021. Represents the New Orleans area in a majority-Black district. He benefited from the old VRA map that guaranteed Democratic control of that seat.</p><p><strong>Rep. They say without race-based districts, Black voters will lose power.</p><p><strong>This argument is false.</strong></p><p>The Voting Rights Act was passed to <strong>stop discrimination against</strong> Black voters &#8212; not to guarantee proportional representation by race. The Constitution does not promise any group a certain number of seats based on skin color.</p><p>Packing Black voters into a few heavily Democratic districts actually <strong>reduces</strong> their overall influence. It maximizes the number of seats Democrats win, but it minimizes Black voters&#8217; ability to affect outcomes in the rest of the state.</p><p>True fairness means drawing districts based on where people actually live &#8212; not on race. Every other ethnic group in America competes without race-based districts engineered for them. Black Americans deserve the same color-blind system.</p><div><hr></div><h3>What the Bible and the Founding Documents Actually Say</h3><p>The Bible commands us <strong>&#8220;Love thy neighbor as yourself&#8221;</strong> &#8212; a foundational principle repeated throughout Scripture (Leviticus 19:18, Matthew 22:39, Mark 12:31, Luke 10:27, Romans 13:9, Galatians 5:14, James 2:8, and many more times in spirit and teaching). Jesus Himself said this is one of the two greatest commandments.</p><p>The <strong>Declaration of Independence</strong> declares:</p><blockquote><p>&#8220;We hold these truths to be self-evident, that <strong>all men are created equal</strong>, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights&#8230;&#8221;</p></blockquote><p>The <strong>14th Amendment</strong> guarantees <strong>equal protection under the law</strong> for every citizen.</p><p>When we put race aside and treat every American as an individual &#8212; equal before the law &#8212; we are living out both the biblical command and the American founding principle.</p><p>The old system of racial gerrymandering did the opposite. It treated citizens differently based on skin color to achieve political outcomes. That is not love. That is not equality. One parent says, &#8220;They finally passed something to protect kids online.&#8221; The other replies, &#8220;Yeah, but did you see they voted to keep their own harassment payouts secret again?&#8221; The kids feel the frustration in the room. Trust in Washington isn&#8217;t just low &#8212; it&#8217;s gone. This isn&#8217;t one family&#8217;s story. It&#8217;s millions of us watching both parties put themselves first while real problems for real people pile up.</p><p>Here&#8217;s the pattern that&#8217;s hard to ignore.</p><p>Congress has quietly paid out more than <strong>$17 million</strong> in taxpayer-funded settlements for workplace disputes &#8212; including sexual harassment and discrimination &#8212; over the past two decades. The money comes from us, not their personal pockets. Yet when lawmakers had the chance to release the names and details (while still protecting victims), the vast majority &#8212; 357 members from both parties &#8212; voted against transparency. Only a handful, like Rep. Thomas Massie, stood up for the public&#8217;s right to know. The records stay sealed. The &#8220;slush fund&#8221; stays protected.</p><p>At the same time, Congress drags its feet on issues the American people actually want fixed. Take the <strong>SAVE America Act</strong> (also known as the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act). It&#8217;s simple, commonsense legislation requiring proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote in federal elections. Polls show overwhelming bipartisan support among everyday voters who want secure elections. The House has passed it &#8212; twice. Yet in the Senate, it&#8217;s been blocked. Senate Majority Leader John Thune has repeatedly said &#8220;the votes aren&#8217;t there&#8221; for the procedural moves needed to force a real debate or overcome the filibuster. President Trump called it a top priority. The American people &#8212; on both sides &#8212; have made their voices clear. But Congress won&#8217;t deliver.</p><p>This isn&#8217;t isolated. Lawmakers routinely exempt themselves or water down rules the rest of us must follow:</p><ul><li><p>Insider stock trading: Bills to fully ban members, spouses, and staff from trading individual stocks keep getting weakened or stalled, even though the STOCK Act was supposed to fix this years ago.</p></li><li><p>Pensions and perks: Generous retirement benefits and health plans that most Americans could only dream of, while they debate cutting or delaying help for veterans, seniors, and working families.</p></li><li><p>Campaign finance and dark money: Limits exist in theory, but loopholes let big donors and nonprofits flood the system &#8212; the same forces we&#8217;ve exposed before at outlets like Courier Newsroom.</p></li></ul><p>Both parties share the blame. This isn&#8217;t about left versus right. It&#8217;s about Washington versus the rest of America. They vote to protect their own power, secrecy, and financial advantages while election security, border safety, and everyday accountability take a back seat.</p><p>At the National American Citizen Association (NACA), we refuse to accept this as normal.
