As we reflect on Moses confronting Pharaoh and demanding justice for the oppressed, a deeper truth stares back at us: real social justice cannot thrive in the dark. It requires light. Transparency. Truth.
Yet across America, a sophisticated network is operating in the shadows — masquerading as independent “local news” while pouring millions in dark money into division, hype, and partisan propaganda. Its name is Courier Newsroom.
Courier presents itself as a network of hyper-local newsrooms delivering “values-driven reporting.” It has expanded to 20 states in 2026, boasts 9 million followers and subscribers, and floods social media with short videos, carousels, and emotional posts designed to drive clicks and action. But behind the polished facade lies a different story — one of billionaire donors, Democratic dark-money juggernauts, and a deliberate strategy to shape elections through anger and paid reach rather than facts and records.
Here Are the Facts:
In 2024 alone, the Democratic dark-money nonprofit Future Forward USA Action — the nonprofit arm of the massive super PAC that spent half a billion dollars boosting Kamala Harris — funneled $13.6 million to Courier Newsroom, making it one of its largest single recipients that cycle.
George Soros’s Fund for Policy Reform gave Courier $15 million in 2023 for “locally focused journalism” — on top of millions more in prior years — with additional grants continuing into the current cycle.
LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman and other major Democratic donors provided seed funding through Good Information Inc., the public benefit corporation that owns Courier and was launched by longtime Democratic operative Tara McGowan.
Courier then turns those funds into massive paid advertising campaigns — over $8 million on Facebook alone in recent cycles, with single-month blitzes exceeding $6 million — micro-targeting voters with content that looks like news but consistently advances one side’s narrative.
This is not journalism in the classic sense. It is engineered influence — designed to meet Americans where they scroll, bypass traditional gatekeepers, and shape opinions through repetition and emotion rather than qualification or voting record.
Meanwhile, the real enemy of unity isn’t our neighbors across the aisle. It is the external ideologies that reject the Constitution, the internal division that keeps us fighting each other instead of standing together, and the lack of transparency that lets dark money operate unchecked.
